Between 2005 and 2016, the hottest and most revered couple in Hollywood were undeniably Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. From their stunning good looks to award winning talent, they were deemed the “perfect couple”, and once the pair hit the 10-year mark, we were sure they would last forever.
Only… They didn’t. Just two years after tying the knot in 2014, Angie filed for divorce, leaving hopeless romantics all over the world in bitter disappointment.
In September 2016, Angelina decided to call it quits on La La Land’s most talked about marriage – amidst rumors that Pitt had been having an affair with his Allied
, co-star, Marion Cotillard (rumors that were later dismissed as false). Following the divorce proceedings, she and the couple’s six children spent nearly a year living in various rented properties in Malibu.
In June of this year, the 42-year-old actress moved into her new LA home in Los Feliz with her six kids, Maddox, 16, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11 Knox, nine and Vivienne, also nine.
Since moving into her new LA home, she has taken up cooking classes. The actress also spoke openly about how her children have been throughout the emotional process:
“It’s been so moving to see how much they have helped each other and how much they have helped me. They have really come into their own and they are finding themselves and their voices. I know that they will have each other for life and it gives me great peace to know the day I pass away that they will take care of each other.”
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the Oscar-winning actress spoke out about her divorce from Brad, and it was all the feels.
Angelina Jolie’s split from her husband was a very public affair, which can’t have been easy for her considering how long the two were together, and also considering the pair have the feelings of six children to protect.
Recently, she very candidly revealed how she has been handling the situation. Unfortunately, despite the fact it appeared that she had been coping relatively well, she’s still pretty cut up about the split:
“It’s been difficult. I don’t enjoy being single. It’s not something I wanted. There’s nothing nice about it. It’s just hard. Sometimes maybe it appears I am pulling it all together, but really I am just trying to get through my days.”
Angelina then spoke about her family history of ovarian cancer. She lost both her mother and her grandmother to ovarian cancer. Her mother had also been diagnosed with breast cancer from a young age, so Angelina went public with her decision to get a double masectomy and to have her ovaries surgically removed.
“So much in life you just focus on how much worse it could be. And I am so happy I don’t have cancer, and that if I do get it, it will be delayed for a few years.
“The exchange for that peace of mind is quite good. I feel sometimes that my body has taken a hit, but I try to laugh as much as possible”
Say what you like about Angelina Jolie, but there’s no doubt that her attitude towards the difficulties that life has thrown her way is refreshing to say the least! I wish her and her children the best of luck for their future! We, of course, also hope that Brad is coping well – divorces are never easy for either party.
